My views on Kundalini energy

In recent discussions with my guests, the intriguing topic of Kundalini energy has surfaced. Recognising its relevance, I've decided to share my personal insights and experiences, cultivated over an enriching journey of years and years in the practice of Tantra.

Kundalini energy is a profound force believed to lie dormant at the base of the spine. For some, this energy activates through dedicated spiritual practices such as Kundalini yoga, spontaneous awakening, or through the guidance of a guru when the student is ready. When awakened, Kundalini is said to ascend through the body's chakras (energy centres), ushering transformative experiences. These transformations may bring about:

  • intense energy sensations

  • heightened intuition

  • altered states of consciousness

  • greater freedom of choice

  •  an expanded awareness

  • spiritual enlightenment

It's natural for some people to desire these profound states. Yet, I want to emphasise—based on observations and experiences—that our container (our mind, body and emotions) must be adequately prepared for such an awakening. Many people I've encountered during various Tantra retreats I have attended,  experience what appears to be a Kundalini awakening, sparking blissful and cathartic states. However, upon returning home, they often find themselves ungrounded, lacking the support or understanding to integrate this energy into their daily lives. This is a potent energy that demands respect and comprehension—it is not something to pursue lightly.

To me, Kundalini is something deeply sacred and incredibly personal. It’s not something that can or should be ‘awakened’ through force, instructions, or someone else’s intervention. It’s a natural process that arises when a person’s body, spirit, and soul are in harmony and ready for it—at least that’s how I see it. I believe that this energy is less about an external action and more about an internal readiness — something shifts within, like puzzle pieces clicking together, and that readiness can’t be rushed or engineered. That’s why I find it concerning when Kundalini is marketed, especially with videos showcasing physical manifestations like shaking or dramatic reactions (even when consent was given; a topic I will address in a separate blog).

For me, Kundalini energy is not something we can scientifically define or fully understand. Trying to name it or ‘master’ it feels like trying to define the undefinable. This process might unfold over many years, or even lifetimes. Personally, I do not actively seek or facilitate Kundalini awakening in my sessions; instead, I acknowledge its power and potential.

In my practice, I guide my guests to achieve deep relaxation, allowing them to explore new levels of pleasure previously unknown to them. This journey involves welcoming s*exual energy and inviting it to move gently and gracefully through the body, calming the mind, and sensitising the body to even the gentlest touch. My sessions emphasize reconnecting with your body, breath, emotions, and a profound sense of homecoming. In this space, profound healing can happen at a physical and emotional level.  If during these sessions Kundalini energy naturally begins to move, it is welcomed, albeit not intentionally sought.

I hope this insight offers some clarity and resonates with your understanding of Kundalini energy within the context of Tantra.

With love,
