Finding joy in everyday moments
After a beautiful session with a dear guest—who always fills our time together with laughter and stories of his adventurous travels—I found myself caught up in an unexpected moment of joy. As I stepped into the shower, a song came on, and before I knew it, my body began to move with the rhythm of the music. The warm water cascaded over me, and in that instant, I felt pure joy, pure aliveness—an undeniable sense of freedom.
It struck me how deeply connected we are to the experiences we create for ourselves. My guest had described the sense of freedom and awe he felt watching a breath-taking sunset on a beach, far away from everyday worries. And yet, here I was, on a cold and cloudy day in Manchester, feeling that same freedom in my shower. It was a powerful reminder that joy isn’t something we need to chase in faraway places or special occasions; it is already within us, waiting to be tapped into at any moment.
Yes, external circumstances can influence our moods, but ultimately, we hold the power to cultivate joy in our lives. We don’t have to postpone happiness, waiting for the next vacation or special occasion to allow ourselves to feel good. As another dear guest once said to me, we can create our own sunshine.
This realisation has inspired me to bring more joy, playfulness, and creativity into my daily routines—those ordinary moments that can sometimes feel like chores. Today, I danced in the shower. Tomorrow, who knows? Maybe I’ll sing while cooking, take an impromptu walk in the park, or find a new way to infuse magic into my everyday life. The possibilities are endless when we choose to embrace the present moment with curiosity and an open heart.
So, I invite you to reflect: What small act of joy can you bring into your day today? How can you turn the mundane into something delightful? Whether it's dancing in the shower, savouring your morning coffee, or simply taking a deep breath of gratitude, remember—happiness is not a destination. It is here, now, waiting for you to tap into it.
Love,
